Thank you so much for sharing this! I love how you use repetition in your poem, "Slow down" "Speed up" and "Slow learners." I love how your pour out the true emotions and events that happens with our profession. I love how you end the poem with a positive reinforcement, too. Although there are all of these negative things going around, you are still trying to "Make connections / Praise often / Encourage / Teach" This was a beautiful ending! This is amazing, you go girl! Teach those kiddos! :)
ReplyDeleteJeana,
ReplyDeleteThank you for such an awesome piece! You know what the best part for me is? The fact that I can talk about this poem and discuss it with such ease, even though it is so darn simple! Seriously. I get the image of a young teacher, papers flying everywhere, staring at me with a smile that says, “you know, I just have to keep going. I just have to give it my all and ‘teach.’” Thank you for that visual!
Jeana,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this great work! I really enjoyed hearing you read it out loud, as it brought to it a whole new level of understanding. The ending to this poem packed the strongest punch of all, and summed it up beautifully. There is a lot of negativity that teachers and students face every day, to which you acknowledged, but I love the positive air you kept within the piece! Never lose it!

Jeana,
ReplyDeleteThank you for such an honest poem! I say honest because I totally understand the confusion and contradictions that come from getting advice about teaching! It can be really frustrating sometimes when you're told what to do one day only to be told the exact opposite a week later...Don't worry about it too much, though, as I'm sure most of this now comes naturally to you!
